RIP: Placido "Pat" Femino

I received word through Carl Weston that Placido "Pat" Femino had passed away.

Pat served as a Combat Engineer in the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima.

Pat was evacuated from Iwo and went to the Naval Hospital eventually mustering out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

He and Jerry met at the Marine Corps Birthday Dinner.   They became fast friends and I took them out to lunch several times.

They had not lived more then ten miles from each other in all this time after the War.

Both had six children.  Three boys and three girls.

Pat was a character.  He had a keen sense of humor.

Pat had a great run.

Several of us believe he is with fellow Marines; Jerry Sherlock and Ed Malloy.  Having a great laugh.
At our expense.

They sit across the river, under the shade of the tree.

Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Semper Fi sir.
